The crankshaft sensor is one of the key providers of information of the engine control. It detects the speed and position of the crankshaft and forwards this information to the engine control in the form of an electrical signal. On this page, you can find out how crankshaft sensors work, and what must be taken into account when checking them in How to Replace Crankshaft Position Sensor 2010-2013 Ford Transit Connect. The ECM/PCM can monitor cam position using these signals – note the missing tooth on the crank sensor pattern – using that missing tooth and the cam sensor signals, the ECM/PCM can determine (and adjust) camshaft indexing. If one of the cam sensor signals flatlines or becomes β€œscratchy,” a code will be set. Products Mentioned in this Guide

Dropped it off this morning to get checked, and they said they need to replace the Crank Sensor. It's covered under warranty, but it is a little annoying to be having parts replaced already!

Disconnect the electrical connector connected to the sensor. Pull out the old sensor from the engine. Add some oil to the new crankshaft sensor and the O-ring. Put the new sensor in place of the old one. Fitting the new sensor in its place is the reverse of the removal process.

See if an engine sensor was not reading correctly the engine would still crank and turn over but without starting. It would do this until the starter overheated or the battery drained. So if you are only cranking for a few seconds then stopping this would be an electrical issue in the starter circuit.

Hi all, just a quick video explaining a very common issue with the 2.2 tdci crank sensor and possibly the 2.0 tdci, weather you've had a new dmf and clutch o It is used only for Misfire Detection. The MD sensor is a magnetic transducer mounted on the engine block adjacent to a 4 tooth trigger wheel located on the crankshaft. The four teeth are spaced 90 degrees apart. By monitoring the trigger wheel, the MD sensor indicates crankshaft position and speed information to the PCM. The electronic engine controls consist of the following: – PCM. – Throttle Position (TP) sensor. – Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. – Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (4.0L) – Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor. – Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor. – Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. Cause #6: Slipped Or Broken Cam/Crank Sensor Tone Ring. Due to the crank rotation impact, the sensor tone ring may get loosened, damaged, or fail to shear the key aligning them. Sometimes, the DTC can occur as P0016 only or as P0016 + P0340. If your cam/crank sensor tone ring is the culprit, replacing it is the best option to go for eradiating

Common Symptoms of a Bad Crankshaft Position Sensor. Recognizing the signs of a faulty crankshaft position sensor can prevent further damage and costly repairs. Here are some common symptoms: Trouble starting the engine. If the sensor is not sending the correct signals, the ECU may not know when to trigger fuel injection and ignition, leading
