Note-if you blank the egr a fault code will be logged in the engine ecu but it should not bring on an engine light on the dash and will eliminate any egr valve faults. Check the battery, if it is flat Citroens seem to give a ESP/ASR fault. Before starting the engine it ought to be 12.7 volts, if much lower it needs charging. Hello I have seen this issue before on a french forum, the fault in that case was the egr valve which caused a brake issue. This guy did not believe a egr fault could cause a brake issue and check the wiring and changed parts, but it was indeed an egr valve fault and this was on a C4.
Hello everybody, This morning on the way to work, my C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 hDi (year 2009) saddenly went to Limp Mode and cut-out the engine. It also showed a message on the dash: 'Engine Faulty:Repair needed'.

When running for the first time in the morning, some days (not every time) it misfires (the same as a petrol engine when the spark plug misses). You can reduce the problem by being very gentle with the throttle.
Engine oil too low means low pressure, therefore something is restricting it, there is not enough of it or the pump is not making enough pressure. However low oil pressure will not cause engine to stop and this could be a side effect of the engine cutting out. The only thing I can think of why the engine is cutting out is no fuel, obviously.
